Wallet & Identity

Your Wallet Is Your Identity

Ogmara does not use email addresses, phone numbers, or usernames. Your identity on the network is your Klever wallet address — a unique string that starts with klv1. Every message you send, every channel you create, and every interaction you make is tied to this address.

This means there is no sign-up form, no password to remember, and no central authority that controls your account. Your wallet key is your login. If you have the key, you have the identity. If you lose it, no one can recover it for you.

Tip: Your address looks something like klv1qr7v...x9a3f. Other users see this address (or a display name you set) when you post or chat.

Three Ways to Get a Wallet

1. Generate In-App (Default)

When you open Ogmara for the first time, a new wallet is automatically generated and stored locally on your device. There is nothing to configure — you can start chatting immediately. This is free and instant.

The private key is stored in your browser's local storage (web app) or in the device keystore (mobile/desktop). It never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it.

2. Import an Existing Key

If you already have a Klever wallet, you can import it into Ogmara. Go to the wallet settings and paste your hex-encoded private key. Ogmara will derive the corresponding address and use it as your identity.

This is useful if you want to use the same identity across multiple apps or if you are migrating from another device.

3. Connect Klever Extension (Browser Wallet)

For on-chain features like registration, channel creation, and tipping, you can connect the Klever Extension browser wallet. This lets Ogmara request transaction signatures without ever accessing your private key directly.

The Klever Extension is available for Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Brave, Edge). Install it from the Klever website, create or import a wallet there, and then connect it in Ogmara's wallet settings.

Two Tiers of Users

Ogmara has a simple two-tier system that balances open access with spam prevention. You can use the platform without spending anything, but on-chain registration unlocks additional capabilities.

Unverified (Free)

  • Can send chat messages, post news, react to posts, and follow other users.
  • Must complete a one-time proof-of-work challenge per node to prevent spam. This takes roughly 2–3 seconds on a modern device.
  • Cannot edit or delete sent messages.
  • Cannot create channels.

Registered (On-Chain)

  • Costs approximately 4.4 KLV (one-time transaction fee).
  • Your identity is permanently recorded on the Klever blockchain.
  • Unlocks: edit and delete your own messages.
  • Unlocks: create channels and moderate channels you own.
  • Registration is a one-time cost — once registered, your status is permanent.
Tip: You can acquire KLV from exchanges that list the Klever token. Registration only needs to be done once per wallet address.

Multi-Device Setup (Delegation)

You may want to use Ogmara on multiple devices — your phone, your laptop, and your desktop, for example. Rather than copying your private key to every device (which is a security risk), Ogmara uses a delegation system.

How It Works

  1. Each device generates its own unique key pair when you first open the app.
  2. From your main wallet, you delegate authority to a device key. This is an on-chain transaction that costs approximately 4.5 KLV.
  3. Once delegated, messages signed by that device key are verified by the network as coming from your main wallet address.
  4. You can revoke a delegation at any time (for example, if a device is lost or stolen).

This approach keeps your main private key safe on a single device while still letting you participate from anywhere. Other users see all your messages as coming from the same identity, regardless of which device sent them.

Back Up Your Wallet Key

Critical: If you lose your private key, you lose access to your wallet permanently. There is no "forgot password" link, no support team that can reset it, and no recovery mechanism. This is decentralized by design — only you control your key.

How to Back Up

  1. Open the wallet settings page in the app.
  2. Use the export/backup option to reveal your private key.
  3. Write it down on paper or store it in a secure password manager. Do not screenshot it or save it in plain text on your device.
  4. Store the backup in a safe location, separate from the device that holds the wallet.
Android users: Uninstalling the Ogmara app may permanently delete your private key from the Android Keystore. Always export and back up your key before uninstalling or clearing app data.
Tip: Make your backup before you register or delegate devices. If you lose access to a registered wallet, you would need to start over with a new address and pay the registration fee again.
