Getting Started with Ogmara

Ogmara is a decentralized chat and news platform. There are no accounts to create, no emails to verify, and no passwords to remember. Your wallet is your identity, and one is generated for you automatically. You can be chatting in under a minute.

1 Open the App

The fastest way to get started is the web app. Visit the /app/ page on any Ogmara node to open it directly in your browser — no installation needed.

Prefer a native experience? Download the mobile app for Android or the desktop app for Linux, Windows, or macOS. They all connect to the same network.

2 Your Wallet is Created Automatically

When you open Ogmara for the first time, a wallet is generated on your device. This wallet is your identity on the network — your address (starting with klv1...) is your unique username. No signup form, no email, no phone number.

Everything you do on Ogmara is tied to your wallet address. Messages you send, channels you create, and people who follow you — all linked to this one address.

3 Set Your Display Name and Avatar

Open the profile or settings section to choose a display name and avatar. Other users will see this alongside your messages instead of your raw wallet address. You can change these at any time.

4 Quick Proof-of-Work Challenge

The first time you interact with a node, your device will solve a small computational puzzle. This takes about 2–3 seconds and happens automatically in the background. It is a one-time anti-spam measure to prevent bots from flooding the network — it is not cryptocurrency mining, and it uses no significant resources.

You only need to complete this once per node you connect to. After that, you can chat freely.

5 Join Channels

Browse the channel list in the sidebar to find conversations that interest you. Tap or click any channel to join and start reading. You can also create your own channel if you have a topic in mind.

6 Start Chatting

That is it — you are ready to go. Send messages in channels, post news articles, follow other users, and explore the network. All messages are signed with your wallet key, so others can verify they really came from you.

7 Optional: Register On-Chain

You can use Ogmara without spending any cryptocurrency. However, registering your identity on the Klever blockchain unlocks additional features:

  • Edit and delete your own messages
  • Create new channels
  • Moderate channels you own
  • Receive tips from other users

On-chain registration costs approximately 4.4 KLV (a small amount of Klever cryptocurrency). You pay this once, and it permanently links your display name to your wallet address on the blockchain.

Not sure yet? No problem. You can register later at any time. Enjoy chatting first and decide when you are ready.

8 Back Up Your Wallet Key

Your wallet key is stored on your device. If you lose your device, clear your browser data, or uninstall the app without backing up, your wallet — and everything tied to it — is gone forever. There is no "forgot password" option in a decentralized system.

Important: Go to Settings and export or write down your wallet key. Store it somewhere safe. If you lose it, nobody can recover it for you — not even the developers.
